Preparation Guide for the Position of Associate Professor (English, FSSH) at University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC)



1. Verify Eligibility
- Minimum age: 27 years.

a. Teaching Statement (≈ 800‑1000 words)
- Philosophy of teaching, methods adopted, assessment strategies, technology integration, and evidence of student learning outcomes.

b. Research Statement (≈ 800‑1000 words)
- Overview of past research, current projects, future research agenda, and how you intend to involve graduate students and foster inter‑university collaboration.

c. Vision for the Department (≈ 500‑700 words)
- Proposals for new courses, curriculum revision, research clusters, community outreach, and ways to raise the department’s national/international profile.



5. Formatting Guidelines

- Use A4 size paper, portrait orientation.
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt for body text, 14 pt for headings.
- Line spacing: 1.5.
- Number all pages, include your name and the job title in the footer (e.g., “John Doe – Associate Professor – English”).
- Save each document as PDF; file names should follow the pattern: “Firstname_Lastname_Document.pdf” (e.g., “Ayesha_Khan_CV.pdf”).



6. Submission Process

Hard‑Copy Option
- Assemble the documents in the order: Cover Letter, CV, Teaching Statement, Research Statement, Vision Statement, Publication List, Certificates, Photographs.
- Staple or bind with a single binder clip; do not use glue or tape.
- Address the envelope to: Registrar, USTC, Foy’s Lake, Chittagong.
